Defacement. As a photographer, when shooting full body from distance, large tats often look like mud. Tats also break up the natural lines and shapes of the human body. An anklet tattoo makes the ankle look thicker. tats around limbs generally shorten the perception of limb length. I have some tatted women that make it work better than others, especially if the tats are on one side of the body and having the other side "clean" and it can be striking. Usually though, it's just unorganized crap when many tats are involved. Sorry.
