Most photographers will edit some of their top pics or others will edit before publishing. The problem (and it happened to me decades ago) is when editing tools become available is that there's a tendency to OVERUSE them like this. I still edit to maybe remove a stray insect bite, cut or zit, and sometimes to adjust white balance or color, but this heavy global skin smoothing stuff is something to avoid. I think some people (women on social media; some photographers) get addicted to using these filters and tools too heavily and it just looks fake as hell. It's an easy trap to fall into.

I also have a big issue (often seen in pics from Japan, also Korea) with the heavy overuse of detail destroying white haze or glow tools. A little can be nice in some cases but it's become an out-of-control trend that obviously looks fake and obliterates details we need to see.
