love some positive disability representation, disabled characters should be played by disabled actors!

Not always. The whole point of acting is pretending to be someone you're not.

@sp1d3rm0n Is that why they tell actors to get ripped or get fatter for certain roles?

sure, an actor can "fit" in some ways, others not... so make up, tricks, wright loss/gain are employed. As for disables actors, there is a limited pool - and then out of this limited pool, are they good enough? Do they "fit" in other ways? What if it's the wrong ethnicity? We can go down a rabbit hole of absurdity if pushed enough... And with "ethnicity" is any European as good as another? Is it wrong to use a welsh person to act the part of someone from Cornwall? And if one is of mixed heritage, are they disqualified from any role involving a historical person of mainly one ethnicity? I'm a BIG believer in more diversity in hiring and work but some arguments I've heard along these lines seeking to box in casting when there are so many things to consider in casting seems insane to me.

An interesting discussion. Marlee Matlin seems to have done well with her challenge and turned it into a nice career. It's a good place to fit because she would be the first person I would call if I were casting for a deaf person. I would just seem natural to want to cast a person that fits, regardless of ability or heritage though. A good actor is a good actor after all. With some exceptions of course. I probably wouldn't call Brad Pitt if I were making a Malcolm X film. Not that I don't think he could play the role. So despite my respect for him as an actor... Certainly gives me pause to think about casting in a new light. Cool discussion. 👍

Yes, I can kinda see the comparison with Kaitlyn's feet. She's a favourite of mine, also.
