The collaborative celebrity feet website

Help & FAQ

wikiFeet has a lot of sections, badges, user levels and weird buttons. Here's a first attempt at making it make sense. I will improve this page over time.

The site header

The wikiFeet logo moves to the right as you scroll down, and as it moves the text 'scroll up' appears. Clicking that text will scroll the page back to the top. You can find the site's main menu on the top right corner. Under the site's logo, from the left you have the following: Profile icon - click to sign up or sign in. If you're already signed in as a user, the icon will appear in color and a click on it will open the user menu. Mail icon - when signed in, to get to your inbox for direct messaging. Search bar - Search for a celebrity in all wikiFeet sites. To limit search to the current site category, go to general site settings. Type a name, then either click on one of the results shown or hit ENTER to open results in as a gallery listings page. Settings - General site settings. For enabling dark mode, limiting search bar results and accessing cookie preferences.

The site sections

Photos section

Basically, a listing of all celebrity galleries on the site. You can filter the list by clicking the "Filter by" button at the top right corner. You can filter by country, birth year and shoe size. Registered members can use filters to only show celebrities they've added to their favorites list, celebs they've rated a certain way, or celebs they haven't rated yet. In addition to filtering, you can sort the gallery by popularity, wikiFeet score or by latest update. By combining sort and filter you can get listings such as top rated celebs in a specific country. Adding celebrities to your favorites list cannot be done via this page, and you will need to go into the gallery to do that.

Videos section

Each celebrity page has a comment section, in which users are able to attach a YouTube video featuring the celeb's feet, onto a comment. The videos section is a collection of all comments with video attachments. It's just a convenient way to see newly posted videos in one place.

Mentions section

wikiFeet is being mentioned a lot in social and legacy media. This section curates videos and photos of celebrities mentioning wikiFeet or the foot lovers community in general.

Feet of the Day

Every day, the system picks a celebrity for Feet of the Day. This process is done automatically and is based on user interaction in the previous day. The system keeps an internal score to determine each FOTD winner. The top score for a specific week will become Feet of the Week. It is not possible to recommend anyone for Feet of the Day/Week because the process is entirely automatic.

Celebrity birthdays

Just a fun way to browse celebrity galleries. It started as a widget on the front page but the widget only had space for 4 celebrities, out of hundreds celebrating their birthday on any given day. So I made it into its own section.

Gallery pages

Each celebrity has a dedicated gallery page. That does not mean the celebrity herself created the page, as pages are usually created by fans. You can get to a gallery page by clicking any of the listings in the browse sections (photos, videos, Feet of the day, etc..) A gallery page consists of 3 parts. - The celebrity's wikiFeet score and statistics - The actual content (photos, videos, mentions) - The comment section At the very top of the gallery you will see a bell icon () to enable notifications whenever new content is posted, and a heart icon () to add the celebrity to your favorites list. These features are only available for site members.

wikiFeet score and celebrity info

A celeb's wikiFeet score is a 5 star based rating system, based on user ratings and a secret algorithm built into it to account for people tampering with the results. Celebrities with exceptionally beautiful feet that got very favorable votes will be given the "Gorgeous" rating, often referred to as the 6th star, and the score will glow yellow. Next to the wikiFeet score there are some voting statistics and information. IMDb link - The IMDb page used for the creation of the page. IMDb pages are necessary for creating new pages, as a way to ensure the person is a celebrity, and to avoid naming errors and duplicate galleries. Additional information: shoe size, birthplace, birthdate and height. To edit said information, click on the pencil () icon next to the data. Once you've edited a field, the information you put will be stored as a single vote for that value. The system will ultimately display the value that got the most votes. If you see a checkmark () instead of a pencil icon, it means the celebrity has confirmed the information and therefore it is no longer editable.

Gallery content

The content is divided into tabs. The most popular of which is the photos tab. At the top bar you have the ability to skip pages,
filter by tags, change the sorting order of the photos and open gallery settings. This header should follow you around when you scroll and always be available at the top of your screen, to make it easier to skip pages from anywhere in the gallery. If you need to scroll up to see it, you may have an ad-blocker that's messing with the UI. Try to disable it. You can use gallery settings to show/hide data overlaid on the image as well as adding the celebrity to your ignore list. Once the celebrity is in your ignore list they will no longer appear on the main page or in celebrity listings across the site. To review your ignore list and to remove a celebrity from it, go to your account settings, and select "ignored" under "celebs list". Thumbnails overlay The label on the top left, if enabled, will show the ID number of the photo. Photos added in the last 48 hours will have a red dot next to the number. Photos that you voted up (users only) will show the number on a white background. On the top right, if enabled, you will see the photo tags marked by the first letter of each tag. On the bottom left, if enabled, you will see the resolution of the photo. On PC, hovering over the thumbnail will reveal all 3. Each photo thumbnail has an upwards pointing triangle for actions related to each photo.

Gallery photo actions

Photo menu functionality is available to registered users. Reporting a photo If you wish to report a photo for copyrights, you do not need a wikiFeet account, please use the 'contact us' section to report the content directly to Eli, the site's admin. For an explanation on the different report types and their meanings, please see the site rules. Voting up a photo Is a form of thumbs up. You can vote-up between 0 to 10 photos per gallery. These votes determine the sorting order when selecting the sorting method "Best photos". Tagging a photo Each photo can be tagged according to its content, to enable filtering photos in a gallery. There are a set of 6 possible tags currently, and they are Arches, Barefoot, Closeup, Nylons, Soles, Toes. When editing a photo's tags on a PC, you can use the keyboard to set/unset them. (A) for arches, (B) for barefoot and so on, based on the first letter in each tag type. If you see the duke symbol on a switch, this means a tag has already been set by a wikiFeet Duke and can only be overridden by another duke. Explanation on user levels is found below, under Site members. Commenting on a photo Compose a comment with this photo as an attachment.

Comment section

The comment section allows people to voice their opinions about a celebrity's feet, and they can do that as long as they are respectful. Insults, going off topic or discussing politics is not allowed. For more details please see the site rules. Each comment thread can have an attachment, and the attachments can either be a photo from the gallery or a YouTube video. To attach a photo/video to a comment thread, while composing a message click the "Attach" button, then either select "photo attachment" and enter the ID number of the photo, or select "YouTube video" and enter its URL. Once a comment thread is posted you can reply to it, and like/dislike it. In wikiFeet we call it toe up / toe down (a play on thumbs up/down).

User badges and titles

Here are user badges/titles from highest rank to lowest. Celebrity - When you see this title next to a name, it means the celebrity's identity has been confirmed and has signed up for a wikiFeet account. Guardian - A site moderator. Has the power to remove content and users that don't follow the site guidelines. Wizard - A mysterious user ability that must remain a secret. Duke of wikiFeet - A trusted user with elevated privileges. Dukes are able to upload into soft-locked galleries (ones that are at high risk of illegal uploads). When a duke tags a photo, only other dukes can override the tag.
Lionize - This feature is used as a way to show appreciation for a fellow site member for their uploads, comments or any reason you see fit. Any user can lionize another user. A higher number means more people appreciate you. Last but not least, we have The Guild. The guild is a group of users who decided to give back to the community by helping to moderate the site's content. Posted comments and reported photos go through the guild, where a voting system is used to determine whether the content complies with the site rules. Once enough votes come through, the content is either kept or automatically removed. A guild member receives one guild point for every review made, and their point tier determines their guild level. Recruit - Guild level 1, requires no guild points Foot soldier - Guild level 2, requires 500 guild points Commander - Guild level 3, requires 10,000 guild points Knight - Guild level 4, requires 50,000 guild points High knight - Guild level 5, requires 150,000 guild points Higher levels give guild members access to guild specific features like guild polls and announcements. Any registered user can join/quit the guild at any time by the press of a button.
