I've heard it's offensive unless used *by* one in self-deprecating manner, or among friends in an endearing manner, similar to the word that gentleman on the left might call one of his friends in a private setting. Or @Grik's 'Gamoto!' And *yet* many times on their IMDb pages, their films feature titles that include that name. I figure you're our resident expert. Little help?

Sorry for the delay. I decided to take a poll of a few of my TS friends. I talked to 5 lovely ladies that fit in this category. Not to brag, but one of them graces the pages here at Wikifeet and along with the other four, I've had the honor of spending some very wonderful hours with them. I posed the "shemale" question and got pretty much the same response from all of them. It is not offensive unless it is used with a sarcastic tone. Usually they will ask the person using the term to refer to them as "transgender", but it isn't a dealbreaker. As for the girl that is featured on this site (not Nina) I told her I wouldn't use her name on this response. Believe me, I'd be doing some bragging there too as she is luscious beyond words and boy, does she have divine feet that get a lot af attention when we get together. When you're a gay little hairdresser, you get a LOT of fringe benefits when a TG or shemale needs a 2 hour hairstyle...especially during the DOWN-time waiting for color to set.

I'd always understood it was an 'among friends' kind of thing, and I suspect most people who throw that term around, especially here, *are* either uninformed or being deliberately sarcastic. I know we're in the same area and I lost my last stylist about a year ago, so just been letting the ponytail grow back. I'd previously had it for about 18 years and it was waist-length, until I was up for a *big* promotion into a professional slot, when I finally cut it off (and got that job!)

No, and I wish I'd have *kept* that good job in the south, rather than coming back here, which has been a huge disaster. Selfish of me, but wanted to keep it as a souvenir, and it is hanging on the corner of a giant framed autographed (Joe Walsh and the photographer, Kosh) print of the Eagles' "Hotel California" in my Music Room. I'd joked that if I cut it off, I'd lose my ability to play bass! They bass player is usually the guy with the longest hair in the band. Out among the cowboys & rednecks, it also got me called 'sissy' and 'faggot' a lot. I also thought I might need it in a few years for a nice toupée or weave... better than one of those long, spiral comb-overs, right? The man went toupée his hair stylist, but forgot his wallet.

@BIB, don't feel like the lone ranger on being called a "sissy" or "faggot". Of course, I get it due to my "flamboyancy". Little do they know, it's a huge turn-on for me. Also, you'd be surprised how often the name callers come on to me when they get away from their friends. My cellphone has loads of numbers of "secret" friends I've met that way.

These cowboys I lived with weren't like the one in the Village People. They're the kind that beat the snot out of you if they have a chance.
