It's an eye catcher, sometimes interesting, but I agree, often not so great, and rarely done well or worth the effort. I've been advocating the occasional one foot one color, the other other completely different, rather than the alternate toe multi-color thing, if one want to draw eyes.

The top of my preferences is a solid color on all toenails with matching fingernails. I notice that women from the Indian subcontinent do this the best. Darker/deeper colors are better than brighter/flashier colors. I don't like artsy-fartsy designs, no matter how talented the artist is.

Don't think foot sizes are assigned based on "fairness" here. The correct way is some kind of report or actual evidence (even though that too can be subject to error, fraud, or odd wishful thinking)
